JeriLyn Holston Andrews:  Dance

JeriLyn began her professional training at the Rosella Hightower Centre de Danse Classique in Cannes, France. After returning to the United States, she studied dance at Butler University with George Verdak and Peggy Dorsey. From there she relocated to New York to study at the Alvin Ailey School, the Joffrey School of Ballet, American Ballet Theatre and with David Harris and Maggie Black.  Her performing experience includes principal performer with Disney on Parade touring company, NBC Entertainment Corporation where she understudied Cathy Rigby (Olympic gymnast) as Peter Pan, principal dancer with Baltimore Ballet Company, and Pointe on Strings.  She is a MD certified educator.

Susan Boone:  Music

Susan has 14 years of experience in private lesson instruction and early childhood music education.  Prior to founding Boone’s Tunes of Delmarva in 2010, she was already well-known in the Salisbury area for her work at Camp Odyssey, The Salisbury School, and Wicomico Day School, as well as for her private lesson program.  Susan holds a BA in Music from Goucher College in Towson, MD, where many of her music instructors were affiliated with The Peabody Conservatory.  She did Masters work at The Boston Conservatory, and further continued her vocal studies with William Beall at the Maryland Institute of Voice. Susan is a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers and has attained certification with the American College of Musicians, an honor based upon student performance in the annual Piano Guild Auditions.  Her vocal students have received First Class Honors with Distinction at Royal Conservatory of Music assessments, and have been known to win top prizes at a variety of Christian student competitions.  Susan is licensed and certified with Musikgarten, an organization internationally recognized for their excellent curriculum and high-quality teacher training in the field of Early Childhood Music Education, and she is a recipient of Musikgarten’s Exemplary Award for 2013-2014.

NICOLE BRUSHMILLER:  Dance

Nicole Brushmiller holds a Master of Arts degree in Education from UMBC and has been teaching ballet, lyrical, jazz, tap, and hip hop for twenty years to ages three through adult.  Her experience at dance studios and camps in Salisbury, Cambridge, Baltimore, and Hawaii, includes working with troubled youth to build self esteem through dance.  She started dancing at age four at the Salisbury Studio of Dance and was a founding member and dancer of the Eastern Shore Ballet Theatre under the direction of Tatiana Akinfeva Smith.

VERENA CHASE:  Science

Verena Chase is the Coast Kids Program Director and has worked for the Assateague Coastal Trust since 2004. She coordinates monthly events, creates publications which feature local fauna, flora, and geography for children, and manages the Coast Kids membership program. Verena holds an MS in Environmental Protection from FH Bingen, Germany.

Yvonne Cimone: Cotillion and Ballroom

Yvonne is the owner of Dance Moves and Manners and teaches ballroom and latin dance classes for adults as well as Cotillion programs for children. Yvonne is certified by the International School of Protocol and has many years experience as a trainer and educator.

Debbi Dean-Colley:  Cooking

Over the years Debbi has attended many workshops and classes focused on wellness and the culinary arts. She is still captivated by good, wholesome, live eating and how this way of eating benefits our bodies nutritionally, spiritually and physically, including the prevention of many prevalent diseases. In 2006 she opened Nanakai’s Organic Cottage Cafe; an all organic vegetarian cafe located in Jensen Beach Florida. Upon moving to Berlin, MD, Debbi soon found herself in demand by personal clients and local restaurants for her unique raw and vegan prepared meals, and opened her business called Mixed Greens. She is continuously creating easy, nutritious recipes and sharing the benefits of a vegan lifestyle though interactive workshops throughout her community.  Debbi is a chef at My Nature, a raw and vegan cafe in Ocean City.

CHRISSY EHRHART:  Yoga

Chrissy is the owner and director of Zenna Wellness Studio in Berlin, Maryland.  An RYT200 certified Yoga instructor, Chrissy has years of experience in guiding yoga and meditation practice, as well as teaching in Montessori-inspired elementary education.  Chrissy is also a licensed Zumba instructor.

MENDY FIORI: Cooking

Mendy was raised in rural West Virginia where she grew and prepared her own food with her family on their farm. As a 4-H Allstar she learned at a young age she liked helping others especially children. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Concord University and is currently working toward a Masters in Reading from Willmington University. As a MD certified educator and a 1st grade teacher at Ocean City Elementary, Mendy loves working with children and believes that child development and education requires a holistic approach including a healthful habit for eating and exercise. Cooking in the kitchen should be fun, a rewarding experience not just a chore!

 Evan FItzgerald:  Art

Evan earned a Bachelor’s degree from Towson University in Painting.  While living in Baltimore, he also studied at Maryland Institute and College of Art.    He went on to pursue a fellowship at James Madison University, earning an MFA in Drawing and Painting .  At JMU, Evan instructed undergraduate drawing and 2D design courses.  His work has been featured in galleries in Maryland, Virginia, Florida, and Washington D.C. and he done mural work for a variety of businesses in Rehoboth Beach, DE and Ocean City, MD.  He is currently adjunct faculty in the art department at Salisbury University.  Recent works can be viewed at www.evanfitzgerald.com.

Lauren Glick: Music

Lauren is graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachussetts where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Film Scoring.  Lauren has been a staple of the Ocean City, Maryland music scence since she began performing here in the early 1990s.  Nicknamed “The Janis Joplin of the Beach”, Lauren is known for being able to deliver just about any vocal style. Her original music is influenced by Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Sara McLaughlin, and Amy Mann.  Lauren has many years of experience teaching private piano and voice lessons to local children, teenagers, and adults.

Courtney Burkhart Glosser:  Music

Courtney’s lifelong love of music led began with singing in her school chorus.  As she overcame her fear of performing in front of an audience, she began soloing in talent shows, weddings, and at her high school graduation.  In college, Courtney combined her love of singing and her love of children by earning her Bachelor’s degree from Salisbury University in Music and Elementary Education.  Courtney taught music at The Salisbury School for several years, before leaving to raise her two daughters.  In 2012, Courtney became a licensed Kindermusik educator.  Courtney lives and breathes music and can’t wait to share her passion with you and your child in a Kindermusik class!

DAVE GRIFFIN:  Fencing

Dave Griffin coached the Women’s Fencing Team at Clemson University, served as an Assistant Coach to the University of Maryland College Park Fencing Team, and joined us from the Baltimore Fencing Center in 2012.  Dave is working to promote the sport of fencing throughout the Delmarva region and also instructs at Del Tech and the Salisbury Fencing Club.

Jennifer Holland: Dance

Jen began dancing at age three in Pittsburgh, PA at Cervi’s School for Performing Arts where she eventually studied privately with Larry Cervi.  From Pittsburgh, she moved to Dayton, OH where she took masters dance classes in contemporary, jazz, and ballet at the University of Cincinnati and earned a BA in education.  While in Ohio, Jen danced with and choreographed for DCDC (Dayton Contemporary Dance Company) and the Dayton Dance Ensemble.  Jennifer went on to teach middle school science while continuing her love of the arts by teaching music and dance in the evenings to ages four through adults.  Jennifer shared her love of dance with students by choreographing many full length shows including Godspell and A Midsummer’s Night Dream.  Jen is a former Teacher of the Year for the state of Ohio.

Alyson Kendall: Art

 Alyson earned her BFA from Auburn University with a concentration in Graphic
Design. She has always loved art and feels blessed to have found a creative
career. She feels art is important in enriching the imagination of children
and building self confidence all while having fun.

Lindsey MacWha:  SciencE

Lindsey earned a BS in Biology from Salisbury University and an MA in Secondary Science Education from Wilmington University.  She studied Coral Reef Biology in Roatan Island, Honduras.  She has taught science in Worcester County Public Schools and at North Broward Preparatory School in Boca Raton, Florida.  She currently teaches 6th and 8th grade science at Worcester Preparatory School.

KRISTIE MAXA:  Sewing and Crafts

Kristie is the owner and designer of Kiki Burleigh, a line of handbags and children’s clothing.

FAWN FITZGERALD METE:  Dance and History

Fawn is the director of The Red Doors as well as an instructor. She earned a BA in International Studies and an MA in Secondary Social Studies Education from Towson University.  She has taught 8th through 12th grade history and political science courses in Anne Arundel County Public Schools and Worcester County Public Schools.  As the International Baccalaureate Coordinator at Annapolis High School, a university-level magnet program serving all of southern Anne Arundel County, Fawn gained experience managing large scale programs and designing curriculum.  A Maryland certified educator, Fawn also has 13 years of dance training in a variety of styles, including ballet, tap, and jazz courses at Towson University.  She has done choreography for school productions and teaches dance classes for children and adults and is licensed to teach Zumba dance fitness.  She continues to study ballet under JeriLyn Holston Andrews and loves having the creative outlet of teaching at The Red Doors.

Ryan Mete: Computer Science and Music

Ryan is a computer science teacher for Wicomico County Public Schools as well as a programmer for Studio Codeworks, a Washington D.C. based software developer.  Ryan holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Towson University and an M.A. in Minority and Urban Education from the University of Maryland College Park, where he also studied undergraduate Computer Science.  Ryan is a Maryland certified teacher.  Ryan is also a musician who can heard performing with several local bands around Ocean City.

CAROL JENKINS PIKE:  Yoga

Carol has extensive experience teaching yoga and guiding mediation for children and adults.  She is RYT200 certified and is the owner of Snow Hill Yoga.

Kelly Hughes Roberts:  Wellness

Kelly is a published author, certified holistic health coach, certified Pilates instructor, master gardener, raw food nutritionist, and wellness blogger.  www.farmfoodiefitness.com

Megan St. John

Megan earned her B.A. In Musical Theatre from American University, where she also completed graduate studies and worked as a research assistant.  After interning with the Folger Shakespeare Library, she worked at Imagination Stage, Inc. in Washington, D.C. as an access administrator and educator, teaching children’s performance classes.  She has a passion for special education and works as an Educational assistant for Worcester County Public Schools.  She assists with the Stephen Decatur High School Drama Department and is working towards completing Maryland state teacher certification.
